Join us for a culinary hiking adventure from the summits to the sea: a 4-course dinner in the evening sun, served along the spectacular Romsdalseggen ridge. A guaranteed delight both for your eyes and tastebuds!

Everyone hikes the Romsdalseggen ridge by day. Why not hike it by night? Surrounded by majestic mountains, we hope for a magical display of colours across the skies as we watch the sun disappear down into the horizon. We will have the mountains to ourselves and get a front-row-experience of both the hike and the view – a spectacular experience for sure.

Your guide will serve four delicious homemade courses throughout the hike. Once reaching the top of the Romsdalseggen ridge, we will enjoy the main course. The dessert will be served alongside the sunset seen from Nesaksla, before continuing with the last descent down to Åndalsnes. This hike and meal offers first-class views of some of the most famous mountains in Norway: Romsdalshorn, Kongen, Dronninga, Bispen and Trollveggen. Down in the valley you can see the Rauma river winding its way through the Romsdalen valley and into the fjord. On a clear night, we can even see the Atlantic Ocean in the distance. Magical!

About the hike:

The hike starts in Vengedalen. After a steep section in the beginning, the trail and flattens out in a plateau before a new steep and rocky section to reach the Romsdalseggen ridge. Along the ridge we will follow a well-established trail. Some sections are exposed and require some scrambling. These sections are secured with a chain that you can hold for support. On windy, wet or foggy days, this section will be more challenging.

From Mjølvafjellet (the highest point of the ridge), a descent of 1200 vertical meters take us down to Åndalsnes. The trail gradually descends towards Nesaksla, following the occasionally narrow ridge.

At Nesaksla and the stone cabin of Ottarbu, we will enjoy a break to catch our breath before finishing off the last 700 vertical meters. This last descent is steep and follows Romsdalstrappa (“the Romsdalen stairway”), built by Nepalese sherpas.  We will take our time hiking down this section, to protect our knees. Hiking poles are recommended for support. On our way down we will stop at the viewpoint of Rampestreken – one last spectacular photo spot!
